40k Conquest St Neots Event 26/03/16

Hello again!

So this time it's back to our monthly 40K conquest event!

Last time we all drew factions out of a hat, and I was given Eldar, so I took Starbane. So how did it go!

So once again 6 players, all using different factions, so 3 rounds it was, no prizes so just for fun, and as normal here is my quick run down!

Off We Go!

Game 1

So up against Zarathar with Ork support!

I was able to control a lot of the command in this game, this dominance allowed me to control the board, but as always Chaos have many tricks at it was a very close run game.
I won 3-2 on planets in the end, but it could of swung either way.

Game 2

This time I was up against Sicarius with Guard support.

Now I was a bit worried this game, he has a lot of high HQ units that my squishy Eldar could struggle against! But alias it didnt happen.
I found myself dominating command again, I either had 4 or all 5 planets under my control, this game was quick and brutal, I took the first 3 planets, and even with him dropping more expensive units, my cheaper little guys, were able to ping another damage to take them down! So 3 planets to 0 for me.

Game 3

So up against Nids this time, Old One Eye with the Stalking Lictor.

Now last event it was us two on the final table, and history repeated itself here!

Now this game started with me once again going for command domination, but with that Lictor around it was harder for me to control as many planets, instead for most of this game command was very equal. The difference? I was popping out a lot of cheaper 1 or 2 drops, while he was struggling to get much of a decent board presence, he did manage to take a planet but I was able to take the 3 I needed. As most of his draws were not good enough units or not units at all, after the first 2 turns, command turned mine very quickly, I was able to get at least 2 hammers on near enough every planet, and the Stalking Lictor found himself very useless quickly.

So a local 1st place for me! As always it's a great bunch of casual players and it was a very enjoyable evening! And we are continuing to keep this up once a month, which is great!

Once again we did the random draw... this time I got Nids! So Nids next time!

Local Conquest LCG event!

Hello again!

So I went into a local Conquest Event this evening, not having played in a long time!
Barrie of Guardians of Tyr, gave me some helpful tips, on deck building and tactics!! So went into this event using Worr, even though I didnt think much of him on first glance... Barrie told me the errors of my ways!

So just a quick report but here it is!

Game 1-
vs Nids, Swarmlord and Gravid Terigon!

Opening 5 planets saw 4 greens, so I was happy about this!

First turn I took full control of the board and took the first planet. At this point I had a heavy resource advantage already and my opponent called it, with me already happily set up for the next turns.
I had a muster the guard in my hand, and was about to drop 6 units onto the board. So I was confident if we continued I could have won the next planets.

Planets 1 - 0
Warlord - Both not bloodied

Not actually from the game, we had a quick rematch as we had time! We chucked everything in! I actually won this battle!

Game 2-
vs Space Marines, Ragnar.

Opening 5 planets saw only 2 greens!

First turn I dropped a troop transport. I didn't put anything on the first planet and instead set up on 3rd plant. Doing this he only put a scout on the first planet.. but it was Green, I used troop transport to win it!

Second planet he had set up nicely but each had taken one damage (first planets ability) and I dumped a load of units there, and used inquisitor fortress on one unit, and then preemptive barrage and completely wiped the second planet, causing him to pull warlord out to keep him unbloodied.

Third turn! And I went for the 3rd planet, I was already set up and so I pushed everything. He did bloody my warlord, but it was always my planet. He pulled out his warlord so he could have a 'minor personal victory' of not having his warlord bloodied, but my planet and 3 blue planets!

I was now the only player on 2-0

Game 3-
vs Orks, Nazgreg.

Interesting game, with catachan outpost I found I was hitting harder then the Orks! He took command control first turn, but I still was able to win the first planet, again with troop transport and catachan outpost.

Second turn, I gained control of the field, as first turn I picked off his troops on one of the planets and I did the same this turn, and put more command icons down then he could!
Second planet was green, and while it was a bloody fight, I was able to pull it off, with another troop transport, elysian assault team, and what I already had there. His Warlord also got bloodied trying to win this planet.

Third planet, I had already set up on, and I put everything I had here this turn, including my warlord. He was unable to muster much of a defense, with 2 units and his bloodied warlord, I dropped his rocket boys before they hit me, and then I had enough units to swarm his remaining unit and to kill his Warlord! So I didn't get the planet but I did get the warlord kill.

So after it being a long time since playing Conquest properly, I have won a event!
Going 3-0 and not losing a planet all event was amazing! And now I leave you with a picture of my winnings!!

40 Conquest LCG: Local Summer Event

So off to a local event, turn out was 4 of us all playing for a bit of fun!

Here are the fractions in play!

Me: Kugath, Chaos/Orks

Ragnar, Space Marines

Eldorath, Eldar

Baharroth, Eldar

So we all planned to play everyone, so we didnt play winner vs winner etc, we just played in a random order!

I cant remember much, as once again I didnt take ant notes, so only a quick round up!

Game 1 vs Baharroth

So what I thought was going to close, turned out he couldnt do enough damage to Kugath or my daemons, I dominated command struggle, beginning of turn 2 I had 11 resource to the other players 4!
So I won on the 3rd or 4th sector.

Game 2 vs Ragnar

Now he dropped firedrake terminators on sector1 first turn!
Ouch this is going to be hard, but I did have Vile Laboratory! So for the first two turns, because he didnt have any units with the terminators, he was never able to stay on the first 2 sector, meaning kugath can go in and win them.  During a Kugath vs Ragnar fight, Ragnar was bloodied, I believe that was turn 1!

Now as game went on, he had a space wolf predator, the firedrakes, deathwing guards as well as other units, so he was able to win sector 4 and 5 (I believe) now his warlord has taken damage at this point, and when he commit to sector 6, he has a massive train of units following him, but I had the ready units, allowing me to kill his warlord.

This game was close, but with my nurglings building up on the next sector, so if he did surive and win planet 6, his warlord most likely would of been unable to survive on planet 7.

Game 3 vs Eldorath

Now, against this deck, I struggled, while I won the first 2 planets, it all went down hill from there, he had the command on every planet every turn, and in the end was able to stop kugath playing any tricks, kugath end up getting bloodied and then killed by a guardian, he was empowered and the player was able to keep him shielded!
Good game, but I was well beaten!

So 2-1 with Kugath and that put me second!

2nd Me, Kugath, 2 wins
3rd/4th Ragnar and Baharrogh, 1 win each

Good fun!
And I took home another fire warrior elite, I only took 1 as I already had 2 copies, even though we were all offered a playset, I didnt take the box, as again I already have one.

But I did get the Zarathur promo, now this card has some amazing art!

MK Summer Conquest Event!

So Yay for a Conquest event!

Currently I am loving 40k Conquest LCG, must be the game I want to play most currently!
So looking forward to this I was!!

I went with Kugath, I been going through trying Warlords out and trying to find one I really like! And for this event it was Kugaths turn!

So heres a quick report!

So I have already changed the deck, so I forgot to get a deck list for this blog! Whoops!

Anyway

Game 1-
Nazdreg
Orks With Guard

Bad match up for me, I can deal with most troops easily, but not high life troops... which Orks are full of.
He won 3 planets to my 1, and I couldnt do enough damage to his Ork swarm!
I did get his Warlord Bloodied and down to 1 more hp! So shame I didnt have anything to snipe him with left!

So Kugath become god in this game! I dominated Command and had full control of this game, the Dark Eldar didnt really stand up to my Chaos!

A very close game... it came down to the last planet, in which he was able to kill of Kugath, I made a couple of small misplays which cost me the game, , even though I had won 4 out of the first 6 planets, if I got 1 attack in on the last planet I would of won.. or 2 more resource, but I didnt! So close!! What a amazing and close game.

Now after having a easy time for the first set of Eldar, I thought I should be okay this time to and well, he just couldnt seem to do anything about Kugaths tricks... I got the Banner first turn which was a great start..
And when his Warlord had 1 HP left, I warp stormed, he cancelled it, but I had a second one and used it again to blood his warlord! (I had so much resource this game)
I dominated command and combat, everything seemed to go so well this game!

So a great day of Conquest and quite happy with 2-2 with a warlord I have never used before!

Even better to thing that my losses, were very close, and the Ork player I lost to in the first game, won the event!!

So Kugath is a Warlord I found I loved using! So I have taken a decision to stop going through the Warlords and work on Kugath a bit.
First time I would be doing this on a Warlord, but I found Kugath so fun to play and I think he suits my play style very well!

St Neots Casual Conquest event

So 4 of us played, in a causal event, no prizes, just a chance for us to meet up and play!

Me- Tau, Aunshi
Colin- Orks, Zogwort
Matt-Eldar, Eldorath
Darren- Imperial guard, Stracken

A quite quick game, even if we were on the 5th planet, Matt dominated and I couldnt do much about it, I should of tried to blood his Warlord quicker.

A good close game, that went to the 6th planet, it was close all the way though, I blooded Zogwort quite early which was a really good move, as I was able to out number his Orks in most of the fights.

Killed Stracken on the 5th planet, by now I have learnt that Aunshi wants to be played quite aggressive to hurt the other player

So no outright winner, but fun was had!!

Lessons learnt-
So I learnt that Aunshi needs cards that help him get back into the fight and wants to flood planets with lots of low costing units, lots of deck changing is needed for next time!

Conquest and X-wing!

So Saturday saw 4 of us play some conquest!
I went 2-1 in the Swiss and then won in the final, i was using Ragner Blackmane as my Warlord

Game 1-

Very close game against Dark Eldar, I won on the 7th planet by warlord kill, both of us had 3 planets each at this point!

Game 2-

Played against Marines and got thrashed completely, he had the perfect set up, and nothing I could do about it
Lose

Game 3-

Vs Chaos, this game was won by me killing the Warlord on Planet 5, he had to commit to planet 5, as if I won the planet I won the game anyway.

Game 4(Final)

Vs the Marines I lost to in game 2, Got a warlord kill again this game (theme running?) on the 5th planet, game turned a bit one sided, I got a bit lucky due to after I used a Mulligan on a rubbish hand, the new hand gave me 3 Elysian Assault teams... which set me up very quickly

I also got 4 games on X-wing in, using my Imperial big 3 list (I am trying this list out for store championships) The list basically is a Patrol leader with rebel Captive, basic bounty hunter, and a shuttle with Darth Vader

Game 1
vs Wedge, Wes and Garvin
Won 100-33, my list just out lived theirs basically

Game 2
Vs Wedge, Wes, Biggs, Tala
Won 100-33 again, same as last time, as soon as Biggs fell so did Wedge, leaving Wes and a Tala vs a untouched decimator and a half life shuttle.

Game 3
Vs Twin Firespray
I won this 100-24, including taking one bounty hunter out in first round on shooting (range 1 of two of my ships) and he hit it with relentless, and after that it was a case of chasing after his other bounty hunter.

Game 4
Rematch vs the twin firesprays
This time it was a 100-0 win for me, long game, lots of chasing, and 1 Hull left on my bounty hunter, and not much on my Decimator or shuttle either! Good game though

But I am now scrapping this list for the store championships, as I do not believe it can take on lists such as Dash and Corran, hmmm back to the drawing board

Anyway a very quick written post as its getting late
